Enero
((click his name above to be taken to his reference))
In 1989, Enero traveled to Japan, and he ended up in a teahouse one night, where he and his companions were served by a handful of geisha. One of the geisha was Sai. He was fascinated by Sai, the makoatl geisha, and fell madly in love. He frequented Japan, always requesting Sai to entertain at his parties. Sai always rejected his advances - he was annoyed by Enero's flamboyant behavior, and he also firmly believes that a relationship ruins a geisha's professionalism. So Enero made him an offer. Enero would be Sai's patron, or danna.
A geisha's danna is someone who can afford to pay for all of her expensive kimono, accessories, and any other costs. He does so for the rest of a geisha's career; it is very committed and almost like a marriage. In exchange, the geisha puts her danna above all others. If he requests her at an event, she will drop everything to attend. For the geisha, it is a very businesslike relationship.
This way, Enero was allowed to be close to Sai, and Sai was allowed to continue rejecting his romantic advances.

Family
Father
Sai's father is a large brown, grey, and black makoatl. Sai inherited his yellow-green eyes. Growing up, Sai was always somewhat afraid of him, but also in awe. He was an extremely vicious hunter, rarely missing a kill no matter the size of the prey. To Sai he seemed incredibly wise and powerful, always a leader never a follower. He was also somewhat emotionally distant. He didn't show his affection at all. So Sai imagined that his father didn't like him. In reality, his father loved his son and was always proud of him. Well, until that trip to Japan...
When Sai decided he wanted to be a geisha, everything changed. Sai's father went from loving but emotionally distant to cruel and negligent. He stopped paying any attention to his son, unless he was scolding him or spouting hateful remarks. Sai was just trying to be himself and live the way that felt right to him, but to his father he was giving up his identity and trying to live like a human. His father began to claim that he had no son, and the distance between him and Sai grew larger and larger until there were no longer even strings of their former relationship connecting them. At a very young age, Sai ran away to escape this negative relationship, and no attempts at communication have been made since.
Mother
Sai's mother is a white, red, and pink makoatl. She is very slender and has beautiful blue eyes. As a baby, Sai adored his mother. She was the most beautiful and perfect creature in the world to him. She was very soft-spoken and dainty. She preferred for her mate, his father, to do all the dirty work of hunting and hated to get her hands dirty. She always talked about how she wished she had dozens of children, but had only been graced with one, so she doted on Sai, spoiling him rotten and treating him to everything he desired.
Things went foul as Sai's father became harsher towards him. His mother's mild demeanor, which had once seemed so appealing to him, was now revealed to be weakness. Instead of standing up for Sai, she allowed her mate to abuse her son. The last thing she wished to do was ruin her own relationship and life. She was never cruel to Sai herself, and in private she tried to soothe and comfort him, but his father's anger grew more and more unbearable until it permeated their relationship. By the time Sai decided to leave, his mother rarely talked to him and always sat meekly by her mate's side.
Since he left, his mother has made a few attempts at communication. Sai has ignored them all. Sometimes he thinks that he hates her more than his father. At least his betrayal was immediate, but his mother betrayed him slowly over time, hurting him more and more with each passing day.
Gamble
((Click his name above to be taken to his reference picture!))
Gamble is Sai's baby brother, born to their parents over a century after Sai had left. Sai, of course, never even knew he had a baby brother until one day when Gamble surprised him by showing up on his doorstep. Sai's father had become cold, stubborn, and withdrawn after what occurred between them; his mother was equally fractured - she could barely look another makoatl in the eye. Despite that their parents saw Gamble as the successful son, the son they had always wanted, they were not very warm with him. When Gamble made his first big kill of his own, he looked to his father for praise, expecting him to be proud, but his father's lack of any reaction devastated him. Trying to comfort Gamble, their mother told him about Sai. Gamble became obsessed with finding and meeting this brother. Secretly, he was convinced that if he ever wanted love then Sai would be the source, since their parents were such failures. He imagined they could be united by their negative experiences with their family.
Despite that Gamble is a rowdy, wild little boy, he looks up to Sai a lot. Gamble would never want to pursue the hobbies and career that Sai has taken up (despite the fact that Sai has tried to get him involved numerous occasions) - in fact, he thinks the things Sai does are kind of weird - but he sees Sai as a pillar of emotional and psychological strength, as well as wise and successful and just downright cool. His friends know never to tease him about his brother because he will defend Sai fiercely. Sai is aware of all of this, and the love he feels for Gamble is overwhelming at times.
All of Sai's life, he just craved acceptance from his family. Gamble to him is the family he never had but wanted so desperately. He wants nothing more than to see his little brother as successful as him one day, living a lifestyle that makes him feel happy and empowered. He would do anything for his little brother, even die for him. At the beginning, he thought that Gamble would be a nuisance and obnoxious, and while that is somewhat true, the negatives far outweigh the positives.
