If Sai's Life was a sticom...
Main characters
- Sai, the main character of the show. He is a gender-neutral geisha who lives and works in Japan. What's unusual is that he also happens to be a makoal, a shark/dragon hybrid!
- Gamble, Sai's little brother. Sai left his family long behind him, so it was a major surprise when young Gamble showed up over a century later! Gamble is full of energy, and because of his antics the two often get into trouble.
- Enero, Sai's danna, or patron. Enero supports Sai professionally, but Enero is also a big romantic! Sai has to turn down his flirting and advances constantly.
- Chiyotsuru, Sai's closest friend. Chiyotsuru is a human, and has recently become a geisha. She is still a teenager, and can be naive and airheaded.
- Momoko, Sai's and Chiyotsuru's rival. Momoko has been training to be a geisha since she was only 4 years old, and is a terrible snob.

setting
There are three major locations in the show -
1) The teahouse where the geisha entertain. It is very traditional in style, with tatami rooms and sliding doors. The room always looks the same except for the alcove where a flower arrangement and calligraphy scroll are displayed - these objects are different in each episode.
2) Sai's home. Sai lives in a massive cave system on the coast of Itsukushima Island. The main chamber is accessible to humans, and this room is featured in almost every episode.
3) An alley in Itsukushima, home to many shops as well as the okiya where Chiyotsuru and Momoko live. This is a long strip of shopfronts the characters frequent, such as the kimono store and the restaurants where they may eat.

episodes
Episode 1 = It starts in Sai's cave. All the lights are off except for light coming from outside, as well as a lantern that Sai is holding as he enters the room. Enero is with him, apparently drunk, and they are coming back from a party. Sai looks uncomfortable as he thanks Enero for escorting him home and tells him that he can leave now. Enero tries to kiss him and Sai pushes him outside and slams the door in his face. Finally alone and relieved, he begins undressing and getting ready for bed. When he slips into bed, he realizes there is a young mako in his bed! He screams and panics. The next scene takes place in the streets of Itsukushima, where Sai sits outside having lunch with Chiyotsuru. He tells her the story of his family and explains that his brother Gamble has found him. She talks him into realizing it's a good thing, but he reveals he kicked his brother out. They explore the entire island trying to find him, only to realize after giving up that he never actually left Sai's cave.
Episode 2 = Chiyotsuru, Sai, and Gamble are sitting together having lunch in the streets of Itsukushima when Momoko arrives. Gamble accidentally spills food on her kimono, ruining it, and Momoko vows she will ruin Sai's reputation if Gamble doesn't replace it. Gamble wants Sai to give him the money, since Sai can afford it, but Sai demands that he takes up some random odd jobs around the island to work up and save the money.
Episode 3 = Sai thinks he can use Gamble to make Enero leave him alone, so he takes Gamble along with him for lunch with Enero. His plans backfire, though, when Gamble and Enero become inseparable friends. Sai finds Enero at his cave at all times, and his brother even starts acting like Enero to his horror. Hoping to end the friendship, the next time Enero comes over, Sai destroys one of his gifts and makes it seem like Gamble did it. Enero knows Sai is lying and promises he'll back off with his brother.
Episode 4 = Gamble decides one night to go and spy on Sai at work. After watching Sai entertaining one of Enero's parties, Gamble decides he thinks they would be soulmates. He arranges for Sai and Enero to go on "blind dates" - but the reality is that they are going out with each other!
Episode 5 = It's Gamble's birthday soon, but Sai has no idea how to celebrate. He goes to Chiyotsuru for help, but Chiyotsuru isn't sure either. The only person left for Sai to go to is Enero. Enero seems confident that he can take care of the party himself, so Sai gives him the reigns. The result is a wild party thrown in Sai's house, with all of Enero's friends, tons of alcohol, loud music - Sai is horrified. He is left with hours to break up the crazy party and make a party for his little brother. In the end, though, Gamble reveals he didn't care about a party. He just wanted to spend the day with his brother.
Episode 6 = Enero requests for Sai to entertain at one of his parties in Tokyo, so Sai and Gamble take a bullet train! Sai has been to Tokyo many times, so he is prepared for the big city, but Gamble is overwhelmed and quickly gets lost. So it's up to Sai and Enero to find him!
Episode 7 = Gamble finds a baby sika deer and decides he wants it as a pet. Unfortunately, Sai has a strict no-pets policy for his cave. So Gamble sneaks the deer into Sai's cave and tries to keep it a secret from him. Sai ends up waking up one morning to the deer chewing on his antler! Gamble begs him not to toss the deer out, since she is an "orphan," and Sai says he'll allow the deer to stay there if Gamble can first prove he's responsible.
Episode 8 = Sai and Gamble come home from shopping to find another makoatl sitting in Sai's cave. It's their father. Apparently, ever since Gamble's disappearance, their mother has been completely distressed and crazy with grief. Sai refuses to give Gamble up, but Gamble questions whether or not he should just go back home to take care of their mother. They agree to give him time to think, although Sai forces their father to stay elsewhere as he isn't welcome in his home. Before Gamble can make up his mind, Sai's father returns a few days later to say that he thinks Gamble should stay with Sai, since they are happy together.
Episode 9 = Sai is out walking the streets when he sees Enero sitting at a table outside a restaurant with a female makoatl. He spies on them from a distance before Momoko arrives and blows his cover. It is revealed that Enero has begun dating this other mako. At his home, Sai drops down onto his bed, feeling confused. When Gamble asks him what is wrong, Sai explains that he's jealous. He and Gamble decide to team up to sabotage Enero's date that night. When their plan fails miserably at the beach, Sai reveals to Enero that, while he isn't sure he has feelings for him, he is definitely uncomfortable with Enero dating around him. Sai agrees that, if Enero stops dating this other girl, Sai will go on a date with him.
Episode 10 = A continuation of the previous episode, in this episode Enero and Sai finally will have their first date. Sai, normally collected and orderly, seems to be falling apart as he can't even decide what to wear. Everyone else picks the outfit for him, and he ends up going to dinner looking like a fool. Enero tries to be kind and not say anything, but while they are eating dinner Momoko walks past and mocks him. Sai feels humiliated and storms away. Enero finds him on the beach, where he has taken all of his accessories off and is swimming. Enero goes in after him, and they play in the water before Sai gives him a kiss.
