All photos taken by me during my travels of Japan, and they have all be edited by myself especially for this application.
Guardian at the torii gates of a fox shrine. Fox shrines are where individuals go to pray for success. Since Sai's biggest dream in life is success, he prays at Fox Shrines very frequently.
A Noh theater. Noh is perhaps Sai's favorite type of Japanese performance. He finds it more dignified than kabuki or bunraku.
A fountain to purify yourself before entering the shrine - you wash your hands and feet, then take a mouthful of water and spit it back out. As Sai initially learned the hard way, you do NOT drink from these fountains! But as a makoatl who frequents shrines, he is now an old pro at using these!
Koi are one fish Sai will never eat! He finds them as dignified and beautiful as he is.
Sai's favorite animal, a sika deer, overlooking the sea water of Itsukushima Island where Sai lives.
Sai lives a short swim away from Hiroshima. At this memorial, where people donate origami cranes in honor of the children killed, he often donates chains of paper cranes himself.
A statue of Buddha inside of a Zen Garden. Sai frequently takes strolls through Zen Gardens, as he enjoys meditating and taking in the peace of nature.
A rock garden, where Sai likes to go to meditate. Unlike other types of Zen Gardens, where Sai enjoys to take walks, here Sai prefers to sit and enjoy the peace and quite, collecting his thoughts. He maintains his own rock garden outside of his cave.
Zaru Soba, one of Sai's favorite meals. A buckwheat noodle served cold with a soy-based dipping sauce, accompanied by seaweed and sometimes wasabi or onions.
A wild bamboo forest. Aside from the ocean, Sai believes bamboo forests are the most beautiful places in the world, and he loves to walk through them and enjoy the sights and sounds.
Out of all of the fox shrines that Sai goes to in order to pray for success, Fushimi Inari is his favorite. This shrine is famous for its many miles of paths up the mountainside, all lined with thousands and thousands of torii gates. Sai loves to walk through them and pray.
These are the streets of Gion - considered by many to be Geisha capital of the world! Here is where Sai learned the tools of the trade.
Sai prefers sea water to fresh water when it comes to swimming and living, but he absolutely loves bathing and relaxing in fresh water! So he frequents hot springs. His favorite place in the world for hot springs is Beppu, like pictured here.
This is a photograph of Nagasaki, one of the cities that Sai visits most frequently for work and for pleasure. It is a huge seaport, meaning there is easy in-and-out access for a makoatl like Sai!
One of the most beautiful places in the world to Sai is the Heian Shrine, a place where he enjoys going on walks and meditating.
Sai exclusively gets his maccha for tea from the city called Uji, a city which is famous for its river as well as because it is featured in one of Sai's favorite books - The Tale of Genji (a book which many consider to be the first novel ever written).
